ISLAMABAD, May 10: Disappointed by delay in marriage, a man on Tuesday took his life by shooting himself, police said.

Haroon Rasheed, 25, after heated discussion with his parents over delay in marriage, went straight to his room on first floor of the house and took out a family pistol and shot himself in the abdomen.

Hearing the gunshot the family members rushed to the floor and found him lying in a pool of blood. They immediate took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The police after getting the incident's information reached the spot and seized the weapon found lying at the floor.

The police quoted the family as saying that Haroon Rasheed, an owner of a grocery shop, demanded his marriage with a girl with whom he got engaged a couple of months back.

But his parents wanted to delay the marriage till construction of second floor.

The refusal resulted in frequent quarrel between him and the parents, the police said, adding, that on Tuesday, the parents turned down his request which drove him to take the extreme step.
