ISLAMABAD, May 9: Arshad Sharif, the Bureau Chief of DawnNews Islamabad, on Monday lost his father Commander (retired) Mohammad Sharif and younger brother Major Doctor Ashraf Sharif within a time span of few hours.

Mr Sharif, 69, a former navy officer, had adopted legal profession after retirement. He suffered a massive heart attack at around 1:45pm and was shifted to Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC), where he died.

As soon as the news of Mr Sharif's death reached his younger son Major Ashraf, 35, posted at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Bannu, he started driving back to Islamabad in his personal car. On his way near Karak city, Dr Ashraf met with an accident and was taken to the district headquarters hospital Karak, where he was pronounced dead at around 5pm.

Funeral processions of both the father and son will be taken out from their residence - House No 107, Street No 110, G-11/3 - at 10:30am on Tuesday. Their funerals will be offered at 11am in H-11 graveyard.

Meanwhile, condolence messages have been issued by the president, prime minister, speaker and deputy speaker National Assembly, chairman Senate, federal ministers, politicians, office-bearers of journalist associations and people from a cross-section of society.
