Pakistan ‘A’ to play ODI series against Afghanistan

KARACHI: Afghanistan are set to play a one-day international against Pakistan ‘A’ later this month, Afghan coach Rashid Latif said on Monday.

The former Pakistan captain, who now coaches the Afghanistan national team, said a three-match ODI series will be played at the end of May.

“The series schedule was recently finalised during a meeting between the Afghanistan Cricket Board’s (ACB) delegation and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ijaz Butt,” Latif said.

Latif will return to Afghanistan to supervise a training camp for the national squad, before arriving in Rawalpindi on May 23 ahead of the series.

The opening match of the series will be played at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium on May 25, followed by matches in Rawalpindi (May 27) and Abbottabad (May 29).

Pakistan has not hosted international cricket matches since the attack on the Sri Lankan team on March 3, 2009 but Latif said he expects the upcoming series to help bring back the game to his homeland.

Thank you Afghanistan for coming to pakistan and playing cricket. first cricket team to come to paksitan afetr srilanka attack in 2009. lets hope the international crikcet is back to pakistan. i wish that pak A vs afg 3odi are coming live on TV so we can watch it. I request all theteams to come to paksitan and play cricket because it is a safe country and people in pakistan are dying to see cricket. GO GO PAKSITAN.

Well done Rashid Latif. Unfortunately PCB never utilizes Rashid Latif effectively. Rashid should be the Pakistan team coach. He is honest and best wicket keeper ever played for the Pakistan. He has lot of respect among young players, he is unlike Waqar Yonius does not interfere other people work. He is honest never involved in match fixing or any other scandals such as drug, tempering etc. PCB should look at the character of their officials, unfortunately this is not happing right now.

Good news for both countries Pakistan and Afghanistan, Pakistan will be the Host of International cricket and Afghanistan team will collect or get more experiences from the Series against the big teams, Afghanistan should work hard and hard to win the series and high their moral against playing the big teams.
