SARGODHA, Oct 19: The people of Pakistan had given their verdict against the government’s pro-American policies.

This was stated here on Friday night by MNA-elect Hafiz Salman Butt at a gathering arranged by the MMA for thanking the people of Sargodha who, according to him, voted in favour MMA and rejected the government nominees.

Hafiz Salman said Americans had always damaged the Muslims’ cause and had never been a trustworthy friend of Pakistan. The Americans had always betrayed the Islamic countries.

He criticized the alleged highhandedness of the ex-provincial minister and PML-Q activists who reportedly thrashed ex-MNA Javed Iqbal Cheema and his workers on Oct 10. Police have registered cases against the workers of both the parties.

It may be noted that the MMA had nominated 10 men, including Farrukh Javed Ghumman, his two sons and unidentified armed men and held responsible PML-Q divisional coordinator Chaudhry Anwar Ali Cheema for the incident.

SIT-IN: The Jamaat-i-Islami postponed its planned sit-in in front of the SSP office on Saturday after negotiations with police high-ups for a week.

It warned police that the Jamaat would stage a protest next Friday if the accused were not arrested.
