KARACHI, Oct 19: Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro on Saturday reaffirmed that in the wake of recent parcel bomb explosions which caused injuries to a number of policemen in Karachi, the government has augmented its vigilance and undertaken many effective measures to wrest the reoccurrence of similar mishaps.

“Efforts have been geared up to check such incidents which have, unfortunately, caused harassment and fear among (the) masses, as security measures have been beefed up by the agencies concerned”.

“I appeal to the community to play their due role in (the) provision of cooperation to the government as extended by them in (the) past for controlling law and order in the province” he stated, while talking to newsmen here today at the inauguration of a Quranic calligraphy and Book Fair exhibition organized by the Culture and Tourism Department of the Sindh government.

In response to a query about the allegation of Illahi Buksh Soomro, former speaker of the National Assembly and the governor’s uncle, who has recently alleged that the governor is responsible for his defeat in the Oct 10 elections from a Jacobabad NA constituency, the governor responded by saying that he had no intention to comment over these charges, however the factual position is evident before everyone.

While answering a question regarding the specific time period when the process of formation of the government in the province would be completed, he said the masses have discharged their obligation by taking active part in the election process, and now it is up to different political parties to prove their majority and form a government.

CALLIGRAPHY SHOW: Governor Soomro on Saturday stressed the community to help and patronize the vast talents of artists, craftsmen and intellectuals of the province and augment government efforts in resource mobilization, as it is faced with resource constrains.
