Amna grabs crown

LAHORE,  Nov  13:  Amna Najam (Lahore) fought  hard  to  beat Misbah  Rani  (Faisalabad) in five game final to capture Punjab women  squash  ranking Tournament at the  Punjab  Squash  Complex Tuesday.

Amna battled for 37 minutes to win with the score  line of 15-7, 12-15, 15-8, 11-15, 17-14.

Separate contest in Under-13 and U-16 categories  were also held in the tournament.

In  Under-13 category, seven girls participated  among  which Marhaba  was declared the top seeded while Fatima Tanvir got  the second seed.

In  Under-16, 12 competitors vie for the top honours but  the honour went to Shafaq while Muqadar was the runners-up.

Meanwhile the Pakistan Open which was to be organised by Punjab from Nov 7 will now be  held here in March next year. The Pakistan’s biggest  prize money  tournament  was  postponed in the  wake of  US  led attacks on Afghanistan.
