Eight municipal workers held

DADU, Oct 18: Police arrested eight municipal employees during a meeting of the Dadu Taluka Municipal Employees’ Association.

Those, who have been arrested, include the employees’ association’s president, Bashir Solangi, the vice president, Ghulam Shabbir Khand, the general secretary, Ghulam Abas Suhag, the joint secretary, Manzoor Soomro, the treasurer, Iqbal and others.

The association had given a strike call to protest against non-payment of salaries for the past two months.

The raid was conducted by a heavy police contingent led by the SHO, Dadu, sub-inspector Ghulam Sarwar Zardari.

The police continued to conduct raids on the residences of other employees.

The taluka Nazim has been blamed for the arrests.

Meanwhile, the employee’s strike against non-payment of salaries continued.
