PESHAWAR, Oct 17: The provincial government has ordered a judicial inquiry into the killing of a teenaged student during a fake police encounter and has appointed Peshawar district and sessions judge, Ziauddin Khattak, as inquiry officer.

The student, Kashmir Khan, was killed by the officials of Banamari police station, claiming that he was a notorious outlaw, Qaseem Wardak. The SHO, Abdul Malik, claimed that they had killed him in an encounter.

The police high ups praised the Banamari police and announced awards for the police party. The police claimed that the deceased was required in various cases of murders, robberies and thefts and was also carrying head-money.

Two days after his death, his father, Misal Khan, addressed a press conference claiming that the deceased was not Qaseem Wardak, rather he was his son, Kashmir Khan. The deceased was a student of ninth class in a local school and had recently got admission in an English language course.

His family members claimed that he was having a dispute with an inhabitant of Banamari. On the day of occurrence he had gone to their home to settle the dispute and the inmates reportedly informed the police that an outlaw had entered their residence. There were conflicting reports about the mode of his killing. Some of the eye witnesses claimed that he was arrested alive and later on shot dead.
