Two sentenced to 45-year jail

ABBOTTABAD, Oct 17: The anti-terrorism court (ATC) Abbottabad has awarded 45-year rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs70,000 each to two men and released two others in the famous Hari Kethran rape case.

The court also declared three others accused of the crime absconders.

On the night of Aug 7, at least 11 persons gang raped wives of two brothers in village Hari Kethran in Galyat. Father-in-law of the victims reported the incident to Donga Gali Police Station, after which the police arrested seven of the 11 accused. Three of them were released later.

The ATC began hearing in the reference on Oct 8 and announced judgement on Wednesday, in which Rustam, son of Younis, and Yousaf, son of Abdul Jabbar, were sentenced to 45-year imprisonment with fine of Rs70,000 each while Asif, son of Haider Zaman, and Shoukat, son of Khan Afsar, were released.
