Two held for torturing women

MIRPURKHAS, Oct 17: Police arrested two men on Thursday for torturing two women.

The Town police said that eight men — Niaz Ali, Ali Hassan, Ashraf Ali, Mushtaque Ali, Irfan Ali, Ghulam Ali, Jan Ali, and Ghulam Mushtaque — barged into the house of a man, Rajab Ali Shah, at Thamsabad and tortured two women, Afsheen and Shaheen.

A case was registered against the eight men. Later, two of them, Niaz Ali and Ali Hassan, were arrested.

JSQM: The JSQM and JSSF workers wore black arm bands and hoisted black flags on their houses on Thursday to mark the Thori Phatak Day.

According to a press release, a meeting was also held on the day. It was addressed by Manzoor Memon, Asghar Mirani, Zeeshan Ali Leghari, and Darya Khan Jamali.

KILLED: A motorcyclist, Imtiaz Ali (35), was shot dead when he resisted armed men from snatching his motorcycle near the Haji Khan Talpur village on Thursday.

NAZIM ACCUSED: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement candidates from NA-226 (Mirpurkhas-I) and NA-227 (Mirpurkhas-II) have accused the district union council Nazims of supporting election candidates.

Rais Ahmed Khan and Shabbir Ahmed Qaimi have sent telegrams to the president, chief justice, Sindh governor and returning officers of NA-226 and PS-64, drawing their attention toward the alleged partial role of the district and UC Nazims in the election campaign.
