Bandits kill policeman

SUKKUR, Oct 17: A police constable was killed and another injured after bandits ambushed them near Tangwani in Jacobabad district on Thursday.

According to the police report, two police constables, Dost Mohammad Bachkani and Ghulam Yaseen, were intercepted by three armed bandits while they were on their way to Tangwani from Kandhkot.

Dost Mohammad was killed in the ensuing gunbattle and Mohammad Yaseen was injured.

The bandits later fled the scene on their motorcycle carrying away the policemen’s official weapons. No arrest has so far been reported.

Meanwhile, a married woman, Faisal Khatoon, was gunned down on Thursday by her brother-in-law, Nazeer Ahmed Jakhrani, in Tangwani on the pretext of Karo-kari. Nazeer escaped after the murder.

Meanwhile, the nephew of Engineer Nazeer Ahmed Khoso, Aftab Ahmed Khoso, still remained in the captivity of unknown persons. Engineer Nazeer Ahmed Khoso was a candidate from PS-16 in Jacobabad.

Aftab Khoso was kidnapped on the election day.

The JUI leader, Dr A G Ansari, and Mir Mohammad Banglani have urged the Sindh governor and the IGP of Sindh to take special measures for his recovery.

MMA MNA-elect: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal’s MNA-elect and chief of Jamaat Islami, Sindh, Asadullah Bhutto, has condemned the parcel bomb blasts in Karachi, reports APP.

Talking to journalists here on arrival from Karachi, Bhutto said that he was deeply shocked to hear about the incident, and termed it an act of terrorism.

He said that certain forces were bent upon destabilizing the political process, which had begun with the holding of the Oct 10 election.

HOSTAGE RETURNS: Aftab Ahmed Khoso, son of Manzoor Khoso, Civil Surgeon, Jacobabad, reached home in Thul town on Thursday.

Armed men had kidnapped Aftab on Oct 10. He had been taken to Balochistan where he was kept for seven days.

It has been learnt that the JUI leader, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, talked to Nawab Akber Bugti on Wednesday. The latter took serious notice of the kidnapping and somehow convinced the culprits to release him on Thursday.
