ISLAMABAD: Speakers here at a 4-day training workshop stressed the need for equipping the Muslim world with research based modern education to tackle the challenges being faced by the Muslim states.

The workshop “Regional training session for the state of national commissions and focal points in Islamic Scientific, Educational and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) member countries” was organized jointly by Pakistan National Commission for UNESCO and Economic Affairs Division here Monday.

The event was aim at improving the professional capacities of the financial and administrative staff of the member countries in accounting and administration.

Besides, the other objectives of the event were developing the mechanism of coordination, exchanging experiences and expertise between ISESCO and National Commissions of the member countries.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary, Wafaqi Mohatasib Secretariat, Mansoor Suhail urged the need for devising strategic partnerships among the national commissions of ISESCO member states to enable the Islamic world to benefit from its projects and programmes in education, culture, science and communication.

He said that there was an imperative need for strategic planning to rise funds for ISESCO National Commissions to be able to mobilize adequate financial resources for implementation of their programmes and activities.

It would help in addressing challenges facing our countries in areas of education, science, culture, communication and information, he remarked.

He asked for utilizing the media for creating awareness and to reaching out the targeted audiences adding that there has been a phenomenal expansion in the media capacity in Pakistan.

Dr. Abbas Sadri Regional Head ISESCO Tehran in his remarks said that the organization was striving to improve the education system by sharing each other experiences particularly increasing the net enrolment in primary level.

He said that the organization was also working to develop linkages between the educational institutions to improve the quality of education besides promoting the social, cultural, educational and scientific relations in member states.

It may be recalled that about 52 Muslim countries are the member of ISESCO for enhancing ties in fields of education, science and technology, culture, communications and information.
