Lecturer looted

GUJRANWALA, Oct 16: Outlaws in uniform looted the house of a college lecturer and injured him on resistance in Cantonment here on Wednesday.

Six dacoits in police uniform barged into the house of Allah Ditta in Soian village, Cantonment. They held hostage the inmates at gunpoint, collected Rs30,000 in cash, ornaments, a TV set, a mobile phone, wristwatches and other articles. They also beat up the lecturer for putting up resistance. The intruders escaped after locking them in a room.

Cantonment police have registered a case and are investigating.

In another incident, two robbers snatched the salaries of Irrigation employees from account officer Muhammad Ashraf near the State Bank in Model Town. After snatching Rs74,000, the outlaws managed to escape on foot. — Correspondent
