KARACHI, Oct 16: Naib Amir of the Jamaat-i-Islami and central leader of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, Prof Ghafoor Ahmad, on Wednesday accused that the government of patronizing ethnic groups by changing the election results.

Addressing female workers and supporters of the JI’s women wing at Idara Noor-i-Haq, he said that the people of Karachi and the country as well had given an overwhelming mandate to the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal in the election, but the government was still patronizing ethnic groups and that was why it allowed rigging in the election and even made changes in the results.

Prof Ghafoor said that role of women had played an important role in the impressive and historic victory of the MMA. He said the MMA, after coming into power, would ensure provision of education, health and basic services to women.

Her said the opponents should accept the people’s mandate and not create hurdles in the formation of government by the MMA.

He said that MMA would free Karachiites from the culture of extortion and klashnikoves and ensure restoration of peace in Sindh.
