ISLAMABAD April 11: The Member of the British House of Lords, Lord Qurban Hussain, on Monday said Kashmir freedom movement was in accordance with United Nations Charter.

“I personally feel the attainment of freedom through peaceful means is the best option,” Lord Qurban said adding “but hegemonic designs of India over Kashmir forced the Kashmiris to take guns in their hands and fight for their right to self-determination.”Speaking at meet the press programme of National Press Club, Islamabad, Lord Qurban Hussian said Indian atrocities turned peaceful Kashmir struggle into armed conflict. “The struggle at the start was peaceful,” he added.

Lord Qurban said Pakistan, India and the Kashmiris were party to that Kashmir issue, and it should be resolved in accordance with the will of the Kashmiris.

He, however, criticised the double standards of the international community as they gave no attention to the issue.

Replying to a question, he said, that the Kashmir movement organisations had one point agenda that was the independence of Kashmir.

He said that all the parties in Indian Occupied Kashmir had joined hands for the right of self-determination. He condemned the drone attacks and said that it was an attack on sovereignty and integrity of Pakistan.

He appealed to the international community to support Pakistan and provide trade opportunity instead of aid.
