Cop arrested for killing youth

GUJRANWALA, Oct 15: A police constable was arrested on Tuesday on the charge of killing a youth here on Monday night.

Reports said Sarfraz of Khiali was on his way home when four constables of Rescue-15 intercepted him and opened fire on him when he resisted. The youth died on the spot.

Later, the heirs of the youth and residents of Khiali held a protest demonstration against his killing.

The Gujranwala SSP got registered a murder case against the four constables and suspended them from service on Tuesday.

Police have arrested constable Pervaiz while the other are still at large.

ARRESTED: The city police arrested three dacoits when they were fleeing after looting gold ornaments worth Rs600,000 here on Tuesday.

Reports said three armed men forced their entry into the laboratory of a jewellery market and snatched the rifle from its gunman, Shafiq. The bandits fled after collecting jewellery.

On receiving information, police pickets were set up on almost all roads. A Satellite Town police party, on a tip off that some suspects were present at the wagon stand on Pasrur Road, conducted a raid and arrested them after an encounter.

Police recovered the looted gold ornaments and the rifle from their possession.

The police claimed that the arrested men were proclaimed offenders and involved in many incidents of dacoity, robbery and other heinous crime.
