HYDERABAD, Oct 15: A large number of people, including representatives of various NGOs, women and special children, brought out a rally from the Haider Chowk here on Tuesday to mark the World Blinds Day.
The rally was organized by the Club for Special Persons, Hyderabad, Special Friends of Special Children, Ladies Club and the social welfare department.
Led by district Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal president Maulana Abdul Waheed Qureshi, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz leader Abdul Wahid Areesar, minority leader S. Lal Ahuja and others, the rally terminated at the local press club after marching on main city roads.
Speaking at the rally, the representatives of the NGOs regretted special children and disabled persons had not been extended adequate facilities.
They demanded the disabled persons should be given their due rights and properly rehabilitated.
The rally adopted a resolution demanding of the Sindh government to ensure the implementation of two per cent emp-loyment quota for the disabled persons and provide them with fund from Baitul Maal.
TEACHERS SALARY: The Sindh chief secretary, K. B. Rind, has assured the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) the teachers of the Government Boys College and the Government Girls College, Kotri, will be paid their salaries within two days from the district accounts office, Hyderabad.
According to SPLA secretary Prof Liaquat Aziz, the assurance was given to him by the chief secretary on telephone.
Aziz told Dawn the chief secretary had also assured him the notification about other matters of the college teachers would be issued after Oct 20.
