People gather at the site of explosion in Karachi.-APP

KARACHI: A hand-grenade blast near the Rainbow Centre in Saddar on Thursday night left Abdul Razzak, an inspector of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), dead and 19 people injured.

Police said the blast occurred around 10pm outside a milk shop where fruit pushcarts were lined up.

The injured, who included fruit vendors and passersby, were rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and the Civil Hospital.

During the treatment one of the injured, IB Inspector Abdul Razzak, who was going to Larkana, died at the Civil Hospital.

The condition of two other people was stated to be critical.

Since the Rainbow Centre had shuttered down before the explosion, not many people were present in the area.
