ISLAMABAD, Oct 14: Justice Munir A. Sheikh, the senior most judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, was sworn in as the acting Chief Justice in a simple but impressive ceremony, held here on Monday.

The oath was administered by Justice Nazim Hussain Siddiqui.

Justice Munir A. Sheikh will act as the Chief Justice during the period Justice Sheikh Riaz Ahmad, Chief Justice of Pakistan, performs the functions of President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The ceremony was attended by the Judges of the Supreme Court, Syed Sharifuddin Pirzada, Senior advisor to the Chief Executive on law, justice and foreign affairs, attorney-general of Pakistan, director-general of Federal Judicial Academy, Secretary Pakistan Law Commission, and other law officers, a large number of advocates, Registrar, officers and staff of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.—APP
