LAHORE, Oct 14: Chief Justice Iftikhar Husain Chaudhry of the Lahore High Court suspended on Monday the orders of the Punjab Labour Court No 3, Ferozewala, in respect of stopping the salaries of the entire Sheikhupura police.

The chief justice suspended the orders of Judge Rana Muhammad Shafi while issuing notice to the Punjab Advocate-General on a writ petition challenging the stoppage of the salaries.

Petitioner’s counsel Nazir Ahmed Ghazi submitted that the Labour Court judge sent the summons/ warrants for the arrest of a respondent in a complaint to the Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ferozewala.

A police official later informed the court that the summons could not be served on the respondent because he had shifted his residence from the address given in the complaint.

The judge first ordered attachment of the salary of the Ferozewala ASP. Later, he ordered stoppage of the salaries of the entire Sheikhupura police, including the SP, and closing of all heads of salary account of the SP’s office.
