HYDERABAD, Oct 14: The Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, here on Monday directed the DPO of Sanghar to provide protection to an applicant peasant and ensure the recovery of 13 peasants, detained by their landlords.

The DPO was present in the court.

The court said that the applicant should be provided protection by the police to facilitate him to find out the whereabouts of the 13 detained peasants.

The applicant said that he, with his family, was working at the lands of Bachal, Hussain, Ramzan and Noro in Ismail Rajar village of Khipro taluka.

He said that the landlords did not provide them 50 per cent share in the crops.

He stated that the landlords treated them as slaves and restricted their movements.

He said that the respondent landlords had shown fake amount of loan as outstanding against the detained peasants, including Ramalal, Makhni, Bhari, Kilo, Soomro, Aslam, Ramjet, Looni, Premi, Jhaman, Veeroo, Majno, Thakro and Parmal.

He prayed the court to direct the DPO to ensure the recover of the detained peasants.

The applicant’s counsel told the court that his client could not tell the place where the detained peasants were being kept.

The court said that the DPO should provide him protection for finding out the whereabouts of the detained peasants and this exercise should be carried out in a week.
