KARACHI, Oct 14: Judge Feroze Mehmood Bhatti of an Anti-terrorism Court has fixed Oct 18 for formal arraignment of four workers of the banned Lashkar-i- Jhangvi in a bomb blast case.
Trial of the case against Akram Lahori and three others, being held inside the Central Prison, Karachi, was registered by the Darakhshan police earlier this year.
The judge also issued notice to the prosecution, represented by special public prosecutor Mazhar Qayyum, to produce its witnesses on the next date of hearing.
On Monday, Abdul Wahid Katpar and Ali Raza Abidi filed power of attorney for the defence of the accused.
BAIL GRANTED: An additional district and sessions judge, East, Syed Sagheer Zaidi, granted bail before arrest to a woman councillor who was booked for allegedly harassing a man.
Gul Afrin, councillor of UC-6, Gulzar Colony, was booked by the Korangi police on the complaint of Ahsanul Haq Bhatti, who alleged that the councillor was harassing him.
The judge gave the councillor anticipatory bail in the sum of Rs100,000.
An additional district and sessions judge, Central, Ahmed Nawaz Shaikh, granted a 13-year-old boy bail in a murder case.
Accused Ali Shah was arrested and booked on April 12 this year for killing a 60-year-old security guard, Abdul Latif, in Nazimabad.
According to the accused, he killed the guard when he tried to sexually assault him. The alleged killer used his victim’s pistol in the offence. He was given bail in the sum of Rs200,000.
