KOHAT, April 1: Unidentified militants blew up two electricity pylons in Bazid Khel area adjacent to the frontier region of the district here on Thursday night.

Officials said that due to the destruction of 132KV power pylons, electricity was suspended to Mianwali and Dera Ismail Khan.

According to the bomb disposal squad, the militants had planted 2kg explosives to each of the supporting pillar, which was detonated simultaneously with a huge noise bringing down both the pylons.

The bomb disposal squad cleared the area for public movement. It also collected pieces of evidence for further investigations.

The technical team from Peshawar was also dispatched to the area, which restored the power supply from alternative source to the affected areas and started repair work of the damaged pylons.

None of the militant groups claimed responsibility for the terrorist attacks. Riaz Khan police station has registered a case and started investigation.

Meanwhile, the under construction portion of a school was blown up in Dandy Derpakhel area of North Waziristan Agency on Thursday night.

A school has been targeted for the first time in the volatile agency. Residents said that explosives were planted at the Samendar Kot high school which exploded late at night.

In another incident, a tube-well was blown up in Doog village in the South Waziristan Agency on Thursday night.
