Rain makes weather cold

Published October 14, 2002

LAHORE, Oct 13: The weather turned colder on Sunday following rain and strong winds.

The change in weather was brought about by a westerly system that also gave rain in many other cities. It was heavy in Islamabad 35mm and Sialkot 69.1mm.

The rain hit Lahore in the morning, tinging the air with cold. It was a feast for eyes to watch trees and plants that looked more greener, creating a soothing effect.

People thronged city parks and other recreational places to enjoy the weather which was excellent for kite flying as well.

The weather was a blessing for fish sellers who took Sunday as the beginning of their business season —- winter. Many motorcyclists were seen wearing jackets at night to prevent themselves from somewhat cold wind.

According to the Met office, around 4mm of rain in Lahore dropped the day’s maximum temperature from Saturday’s 31.5 degrees to 25.1 degrees C. The minimum temperature was 18 degrees C.

It reported rain in Jhelum 8.1mm, Bannu 5mm, Kotli 2mm, Murree 15mm, and Faisalabad 2mm.

The Met office forecast chances of more rain in Lahore and other cities in the Punjab, the NWFP and the Northern Areas during the next 24 hours.
