Robbers kill cyclist

LAHORE, Oct 13: Robbers stabbed and killed a man and took away cash, gold ornaments and vehicles from different parts of the city on Sunday.

Mukhtar Ahmad, a factory worker, was on his way home on Manga Road in City Raiwind on his bicycle. Two gunmen held him up and stabbed him on resistance. They took away his bicycle and cash. The body was sent to the city mortuary for autopsy. A case was registered with no arrest.

Afzal Tauseef, mother of journalist Rana Naveed, was on her way to a market in Badar Block of the Allama Iqbal Town when a gun-toting man deprived her of gold jewellery and a purse. She put the loss at Rs12,000.

Two drove away with a motorcycle (LOH-2708) in Sanda and another motorcycle (LXF-3058) was stolen in Shadbagh. Two cars (IDE-8124 and FDM-52) were driven away in Ravi Block of the Allama Iqbal Town and Ichhra.

DIES: A youngster died in the Mayo Hospital on Sunday from the bullet wounds he had sustained on Oct 9 in Shadbagh.

Lala had opened fire on a shopkeeper over a trivial issue. The shopkeeper escaped unhurt but two passersby sustained bullet injuries.

Asif died the same day and Khurram, 22, died on Sunday. The body was sent to the city mortuary for autopsy. The case registered already was converted into a double murder case with no arrest.

Meanwhile, Afzal, 40, a father of four and a resident of Naseerabad, died of poisoning in hospital.

His family claimed he had taken the poison accidentally. His body was returned to the family without autopsy.
