KARACHI, Nov 13: The examination department of the University of Karachi has announced the first year, second year and final year results of M.Ed. (evening program) annual examinations 2001.
First year: Some 31 candidates registered themselves, of whom 30 appeared in the exams and 22 were declared passed with 73.3 percent.
Second year: 42 candidates were registered and 37 candidates were declared successful in the examinations.
Final year: Amer Shahzad s/o Muhammad Akbar, seat no. 3, from Govt. College of Education, bagged first position by getting 949 marks, Bushra sajid d/o Sajid Hassan Khan, seat no. 26, from the same college, stood second by having 927 marks, and Safia Yaqoob d/o Haji Muhammad Yaqoob, seat no. 20, from the same college, stood third by getting 918 marks in the exams.
Statistics of the results revealed that all the 113 candidates registered for the exams appeared and some 95 candidates were declared successful with 84.07 percent.
ADMISSION: The University of Karachi has announced that the date for admissions in M.Sc in the department of Health and Physical Education has been extended up to Nov 16.
Admission forms are available at the NBP counter established at the main silver jubilee gate of the KU. The pre-entry admission tests for admissions would be held on Nov 20 at the department, the announcement said.
Fellowships: The Research Fellowship Committee of the University of Karachi has invited applications for award of fellowship from students enrolled in M.Phil and Ph.D. in the faculties of Arts, Science, Pharmacy and Islamic Studies.
Registrar KU Dr Aqil Burney said on Tuesday that the fellowships would be awarded on the basis of merit and research capabilities of students; each student enrolled in consolidated M.Phil/Ph.D. program would get Rs 900 monthly whereas Ph.D. students would be entitled to Rs1200 per month.
The Research Fellowship Committee would finalize the selection of research students for award of fellowships after taking interviews of all applicants, the registrar informed and added that the fellowships would be valid initially for six months.—PPI
