LAHORE, Oct 11: Makhdoom Javed Hashmi said on Friday the nation had rejected the policies of the Musharraf regime.

Talking to newsmen, the PML-N acting president made a mention of the defeat of Mian Azhar, saying he had been brought in politics by Mian Nawaz Sharif and he was the one to kick him out of the arena.

The Makhdoom said the results showed that a hung parliament would come into being.

About the constitutional amendments announced by Gen Musharraf, he said the incoming parliament would be shooting in the foot by approving them. And in case it rejected them, the general would be left with no justification to stay on.

He demanded that Gen Musharraf should step down without delay to save the country from a serious crisis.

He said the PML-N would try to persuade the PPP and the MMA to join hands for the restoration of the Constitution.
