MITHI, Oct 11: The Sindh Democratic Alliance candidates have won two National Assembly and four provincial assembly seats in the polls held on Thursday.

According to unofficial statistics, Dr Arbab Ghulam Raheem of the SDA emerged victorious on NA-229 (Tharparkar-I) by getting 75,520 votes defeating the PPP’s Gul Mohammad Laat, who got 34,268 votes. Dr Arbab also won the seat of PS-60 (Tharparkar-I) by getting 52,396 votes. He defeated a PPP candidate, Gyan Chand, who could secure only 12,412 votes.

NA-230 (Tharparkar-II): SDA’s candidate emerged victorious by getting 59,377 votes, whereas PPP candidate Syed Imdad Ali Shah got 35,487 votes.

PS-61 (Tharparkar-II): Rajvir Singh, an SDA candidate, got 32,006 votes defeating PPP’s Dr Ashok Kumar Ratnani, who got 22,084 votes.

PS-62 (Tharparkar-III): An SDA candidate, Arbab Haji Abdullah, won this seat by getting 27,750 votes defeating a PPP candidate, Gul Mohammad Laat, who obtained 19,112 votes.

PS-63 (Tharparkar-IV): An SDA candidate, Abdul Razzaq Rahoomo, won this seat by getting 31,686 votes defeating PPP’s Mohammad Iqbal Rahoomo, who got 14,289 votes.

ALLEGATIONS: Dr Khatumal and Dr Mahesh Kumar Malani have alleged that the henchmen of the Arbabs did not allow a number of polling agents of the PPP at the polling stations of Hariar, Mithrio Bhati, Gungio, Gogasar, Sahiaro, Bhorilo, Matare Jo Taar, Sainsar, and Vejhiar.

They claimed this while speaking at a press conference at the press club on Thursday.

They alleged that the henchmen of the Arbabs pushed around a good number of agents of PPP candidates at those polling stations besides “taking hostage and torturing” the chief election agent of Ashok Ratnani and Kirshan Sharma at the Gungio polling station, Mithi Taluka, on Thursday.

They alleged that the agents of the SDA voted by stamping scores of ballot papers at some polling stations after taking hostage the agents of Dr Ashok Kumar Ratnani on PS-61.

They demanded of the election commissioner and other authorities to probe into the matter and take action against the agents of the Arbabs for harassing the PPP’s agents and voters.
