QUETTA, Oct 10: As was expected, Balochistan is heading for another grand coalition as no single party will be able to form the next government on the strength of its party position in the Provincial Assembly.

Unofficial results show that the PML-Q is ahead of other parties in the province. Prominent among those who have been elected unofficially are former federal minister Jam Mohammad Yusuf from Lasbella, ex- chief minister Mir Jan Mohammad Jamali, former provincial finance minister Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani, Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind, and Mir Abdur Rehman Jamali.

Among those who were defeated are Balochistan National Democratic Party chief Sardar Sanaullah Zehri, Balochistan National Congress’s Dr Hakim Lehri, and senior deputy chairman of Pakhtoonkhawa Milli Awami Party Abdul Rahim Mandokhel.

Unofficial results indicate that the PML-Q has an edge. According to results, the PML-Q clenched seven seats, MMA three, BNP one, PPP two, Millat one, JWP two, BNM one, PMAP one and independents three.

The turnout of the voters in the interior was also low, though it was relatively good in coastal areas of Makran where tough contest was witnessed between rival parties.

So for the results of 20 Provincial Assembly constituencies, out of 51, received from unofficial sources, show that the PML-Q was leading in the province as some of its other candidates are also leading in their constituencies.

Reports from the interior shows that the MMA is also ahead of its rival candidates and is expected to secure some more seats. The BNP (Mengal) has so far won only one seat in the Provincial Assembly. The Jamhoori Watan Party has also secured fewer seats this time.
