KARACHI, Oct 10: The PIA Pilots Association (PALPA) seems to be pursuing double standard as on the one hand they are issuing statement that the national carrier had earned no profits and that the airline management was giving wrong figures only to appease Islamabad, while on the other PALPA has been sending letters of felicitation to the PIA chairman.

On Sept 4, 2002, PALPA in a letter felicitated the PIA chairman on the purchase of new aircraft and said “this was a longstanding issue which has been given shape under your able guidance”.

The PALPA extended heartiest felicitations for the new fleet plan.

“It is vital for a forward-looking airline to have a sound and well planned fleet for its future needs and fulfil the aspirations of our travelling public,” the letter said.

It said that the new induction would enhance the prestige of the PIA and also contribute towards its profitability.

“We are eagerly looking forward to the induction of the new aircraft and in flying them,” the letter added.—APP
