Shaukat in last four

BUSAN, Oct 9: Heavyweight Shaukat Ali became the fifth Pakistani boxer to reach the semifinals of the Games when he walloped Kyrgyzstan’s Syrgak Kazakbarev 33-11 Wednesday.

The four Pakistanis who have already qualified for the last four are, flyweight Noman Karim, featherweight Meherullah, light-welterweight Asghar Ali Shah, and super-heavyweight Mirza Muzafar Iqbal.

Mehrullah and Asghar qualified Tuesday after defeating Chung Chun An of Taiwan and Philippines’ Romeo Brin respectively.

Noman, meanwhile, made it to the last four Monday after he outpointed Violito Payla of the Philippines. Muzafar booked his spot with an easy win over Ruslan Avasov of Kyrgysztan.
