NAWABSHAH, Oct 9: About 2,287 police constables have been deputed for election duties at the polling stations in Nawabshah district.
According to details, 178, out of a total of 619 polling stations, have been declared sensitive in Nawabshah district, including Daur, Bandhi, Jam Saheb, Doulatpur, Sakrand, Qazi Ahmed and city.
The overall law and order situation will be looked after by the district police officer (DPO), Khamiso Khan Memon, the DPO (Investigation), Abdullah Memon and the armed force personnel.
A total of 1,409 police constables have been kept in reserve, and would be used in emergency.
Some 636,449 registered voters would caste their votes on Thursday for the general elections in Nawabshah district.
There are 80 candidates contesting for the two National Assembly and five provincial assembly seats in the district.
Political parties, including the People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP), the PML-Q, the PML-N, the SDA, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, the Sunni Tehrik, Tehrik-e-Insaf and Muttahidda Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), ended their election campaign on Tuesday.
MOTORCYCLE RALLY: The workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement took out a motorbike rally on the last day of the election campaign on Tuesday.
The rally, which originated from the Muttahida’s zonal office, terminated near the party’s central cell near the Family Quarters after passing peacefully through Mariam Road, Taj Colony, Society Katchehry Road, Sakrand Road, Gharibabad, Essarpura, Manuabad and Market Road.
