LAHORE, Oct 8: An accountability court on Tuesday issued formal release orders of the Muzzaffargarh Tehsil Naib Nazim and his associate arrested on the charge of misusing their authority, following the exoneration orders issued by the chairman of the National Accountability Bureau.
The NAB informed the court that its chairman had issued orders for the release of the Naib Nazim, Khalid Waheed, and co-accused, Khalid Mahmood, after accepting their plea bargain applications.
Under the agreement, Waheed paid one million rupees while Mahmood paid Rs245,000 to the NAB. The court after going through the orders of the NAB chairman ordered their release from the jail provided they were not required in any other case.
Both the accused were alleged to have misused their authority by in granting agricultural land at Muzzaffargarh. Another accused in the case, Muhammad Rafique has been arrested on the charge of abetting them in bogus allotment of land. The NAB charged him with causing a loss of Rs446,000 to the national exchequer.
