HYDERABAD, Feb 25: A woman has appealed to the Chief Justice of Supreme Court and the Chief Justice Sindh High Court to take notice of the disappearance of her husband and help her to know his whereabouts.
She also sought assistance of international human rights organisations, nationalist leaders, writers and intellectuals in finding out where he was being kept and urged them to protest over his detention.Saima Bhutto - wife of Muzaffar Bhutto, General Secretary of the Jeay Sindh Mutahedda Mahaz (JSMM) - has alleged that her husband was arrested by secret agencies at the New Saeedabad Toll Plaza when he was going to Hyderabad in his car on Thursday night.
She said at a press conference on Friday that her husband struggled for liberation of Sindh under the leadership of JSMM Chairman Shafi Mohammd Burfat.
Muzaffar Bhutto was arrested earlier also and kept in detention for 18 months, she said, adding that he was tortured to the extent that his backbone discs were damaged. He was implicated in several bomb blast cases but was later acquitted.
She also alleged that their house in Jamshoro's Powerhouse Colony was attacked by agencies personnel resulting in the death of Muzaffar's brother, Mumtaz.
Later, his other brothers Sikandar and Shahnawaz were arrested and the family was forced to vacate their house.
Fearing the death of her husband, Saima said he was suffering from ulcer and asthma, besides underwent backbone surgery.
Shahnawaz Bhutto said that the family was planning to file a petition in the Sindh High Court on Saturday against the arrest of Muzaffar Bhutto.
Meanwhile, activists of the Student's Wing of the JSMM held a demonstration outside the press club and warned of serious consequences if Muzaffar Bhutto was not released.
