ISLAMABAD, Oct 7: The Chief Election Commissioner, Irshad Hasan Khan, on Monday directed the Inspector-General of Police, Punjab, to register criminal cases against those police officials who allegedly disrupted a PPP rally in Faisalabad.
Taking a suo motu notice of the incident, the CEC directed the IGP to register criminal cases against the delinquent police officials and get the investigation conducted by an impartial investigating agency at an appropriate level under intimation to the commission.
The Chief Election Commissioner also took a suo motu notice of reports alleging that the supporters of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf were baton-charged by police in Karachi, and directed the Inspector-General of Police, Sindh, to register cases against the delinquents officials and get an inquiry conducted by an impartial investigating agency at an appropriate level under intimation to the commission.
