PESHAWAR: Saima Shoukat was crowned the first national women’s squash champion on Sunday, when she beat top seed Rushna Mehboob in the final at the PAF Squash Complex.

In a match that last five sets, and an hour and 25 minutes, Pakistan number four Mehboob lost the first set 6-11 but came back to reclaim the second and third sets (11-3, 11-8).

At 1-2, Shoukat staged a strong come back with some fine drop shots and won the fourth set with a score of 11-4 to level the tally at 2-2. She went on to bag the title by winning the decider 11-6.
