MUMBAI, Oct 7: A Mumbai court on Monday ordered disgraced Bollywood star Salman Khan to be held in police custody for three days after the actor surrendered himself amid charges of culpable homicide after he allegedly drunkenly drove over four homeless people, killing one of them.

Salman Khan surrendered to police in the Mumbai suburb of Bandra, an action which is believed to have taken even his own lawyer by surprise.

“He (Salman surrendered to the police on his own in the afternoon and was later taken to the Bandra court,” Aabat Ponda, Salman Khan’s lawyer, said.

“(Salman) Khan has been remanded to police custody till October 10.”

Ponda said his team would work on new strategies to proceed with the case now the actor was in police custody.—AFP
