300,000 polling officials trained

ISLAMABAD, Oct 6: Election Commission has trained 300,000 polling personnel to hold the general elections in an orderly manner, a spokesman for the EC said on Sunday.

He said the training was conducted in the four provinces in two parts: training of trainers and of polling staff.

In the training of trainers, three days intensive training was given to 400 master trainers from Sept 5 to 15. One-day training of 300,000 polling personnel in batches of 40 was given by the master trainers at district and Tehsil levels between Sept 15 and Oct 5.

In Punjab, 136,312 polling officials were trained, in Sindh 89,622, in NWFP 54,192 and in Balochistan, 19,874.—APP
