MIRPURKHAS, Oct 8: Growers of Mirpurkhas division are being denied of loan from Agriculture Development Bank of Pakistan (ADBP) following the directives of higher authorities of the bank to reschedule the previous loans and issue new loans only after recovery of the stuck-up loans.
The recovery of loans is said to be very poor in the region as insufficient rainfall and persisting water crisis had pushed the farmers to financial setback and rendered them unable to pay their loans.
Report said owing to the new policy of the ADBP, the growers could not get fresh loans and reschedule their previous loans.
According to the policy, each mobile credit officer can issue new loans to growers after sufficient recovery of previous and stuck-up loans.
Sources said Rs13 million had recently been provided to the ADBP Mirpurkhas region for disbursement among the growers but it was feared this amount would lapse if the present policy of the bank continued.
COTTON PRICE: Haji Abdul Ghafoor Mahar, vice president of Sindh Abadgar Board, and others have expressed concern over the low price of cotton being paid to growers.
In a statement here on Monday, they demanded of the TCP to buy cotton from ginners in Mirpurkhas division to stablize the price of cotton as fixed by the government.
They complained as the ginners were paying Rs600 per 40kg, the growers were suffering losses and would not be able to recover their investments in agriculture.
SUICIDE: A man Parso Meghwar, 30, committed suicide by taking pesticide in village Abdul Majeed Panhwar, taluka Pithoro on Monday.
The cause behind the suicide is said to be some domestic affair.
