Pakistan beat Tajikistan

BUSAN, Oct 2: India’s Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi, three-time Grand Slam men’s doubles champions who split as partners earlier this year, will reunite here at the Asian Games tennis tournament.

India defeated East Timor 3-0 Wednesday, losing only one game in three matches to the newest nation here, and advanced to a Friday men’s team quarter-final, likely against top seed Uzbekistan.

Bhupathi played alongside young teammate Sunil Sipaeya in doubles after Paes and Rohan Bopanna had assured victory with singles triumphs, but Paes and Bhupathi are ready to play and a lack of recent playing time together is not a worry.

Meanwhile, Pakistan edged past Tajikistan 2-1 in men’s team event first round.
