BUSAN, Oct 2: Two Pakistanis, Shahid Zaman and Mansoor Zaman, stormed into the semifinals with straight games victories in the Asian Games squash competitions Wednesday.

Shahid got the better of Hong Kong’s Faheem Khan, 9-2, 10-9, 9-4, while his cousin, Mansoor blanked Wong Wai-hang 10-9, 9-4, 9-1 also from Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, Malaysia was poised for a clean-sweep of after four of the country’s players battled through to the semifinals here on Wednesday.

In the men’s singles, former world junior champion Ong Beng Hee, the world number seven, eased past Kuwait’s Faisal Sarkhouh 9-4, 9-4, 9-0 to set up a semifinal clash with Pakistan’s Shahid Zaman while, in the other semifinal, Mansoor will face another Malaysian Mohamad Iskandar.

There are also two Malaysians in the women’s semifinals.

Nicol David, twice a world junior champion, saw off Hong Kong’s Mak Wai-ying 9-5, 9-6, 9-1 while countrywoman Wee Ee Lin defeated beat India’s Joshna Chinappa 9-1, 9-1, 9-6.

Nineteen-year-old David, the defending Asian Games champion and world number 18, next faces Lee Hai-Kyung of South Korea for a place in the final while the other last four clash pits Wee against Hong Kong’s world number 27 Rebecca Chiu.
