PESHAWAR, Oct 2: The sixth round-table meeting of Chitral Conservation Strategy (CCS) has decided that the Finance and Planning Department will serve as its institutional home, says a press release.

The meeting in Chitral on the other day unanimously agreed that since the department was the key office of the district government and would be playing a major role in integrating environment into the development planning, so it would function as a secretariat of the CCS.

The members were informed that the department had already been notified as the Government Focal Point for the CCS. It was suggested that the department needed to be strengthened through the CCS Support Project to overcome its resource crunch, the press release issued on Wednesday says.

Discussing the objectives of the round-table meeting, the members unanimously agreed on several points and decided to act as an intellectual resource to collaborate with the relevant stockholders for adoption and implementation of the CCS; to guide on resource mobilization; to monitor the outcome of the CCS implementation; to interface the process of public policy and to ensure objective assessment of relevant processes in the context of the CCS.
