TIMERGARA, Jan 11: Tehsil municipal administration on Tuesday conducted an anti-encroachment drive at Talash and cleared the main Chakdara-Timergara road of all encroachments.
The TMO Timergara Hayat Shah supervised the operation assisted by Talash police and traffic officials. More than 15 roadside kiosks and makeshift balconies of shops were removed. Pushcarts were also removed from different bazaars of Talash.
Meanwhile, Jan 30 was fixed as deadline for shop owners to remove parts of their shops which were built in violation of the NHA rules.
Local traders’ body supported the drive while some shopkeepers opposed it owing to loss of property. Talking to this reporter the Station House Officer Talash Akbar Mohammad Khan said he had been directed to strictly follow the government rules regarding any kind of encroachment in the area.
“The bazaars and road passing through it will be kept clean and clear,” the SHO said. A group of shopkeepers led by Sajjad Mohammad while talking to Dawn on the occasion demanded that government should pay proper amount for constructed shops to be removed. —Correspondent?
