PESHAWAR, Jan 8: A woman has accused police of not producing her husband, arrested for his alleged involved in a murder case, in the court of law.

Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Saturday, the woman flanked by her children, said that her husband, Ruhullah, had disappeared six months ago and during that period he talked to her once informing that he was in police custody. But she said the police were denying arresting him.

“Police claim that he was involved in the murder of Advocate Sardar Khan,” she said and added that her husband’s name was given to police by his friend Advocate Safiullah, who is also in the custody of Islamabad police.

“My husband’s only sin is that he was a friend of Safiullah,” she maintained. The woman said the police after arresting her husband were conducting raids at her residence daily and torturing her family members.

She said the police before the arrest of Ruhullah, had taken into custody scores of her relatives and kept them in habeas corpus for two months.

Some of those arrested, she said, included Lal Badshah, Abdul Basit, Khan Zar, Qaiser Khan, Mohammad Ilyas, Samiullah and Saeed Anwar while one of her relatives Fazal Ahad was still in police custody.

She said police had also sealed their house at Hayatabad phase-4 forcing them to settle with their relatives, adding that her husband was an arms dealer.

She said the police had also sealed all his shops located on the GT Road and in Gujrat.

The woman appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice of the police’s ‘daily raids’ at their house and help release her husband.
