GUJRANWALA, Sept 30: Punjab Governor Lt-Gen Khalid Maqbool (retired) on Monday inaugurated the Rachna College of Engineering and Technology at Jaura Sian village, Wazirabad.

Speaking on the occasion, the governor also announced a special grant of Rs60 million for the college expansion.

He said that 105 students would be admitted to the three college departments — mechanical, manufacturing and electronic engineering.

The government, he said, would purchase 150 acres of more land for the expansion of the college. To promote technical education, seven more technical engineering institutes would be established in different cities of the Punjab, he said.

Presidents of Gujranwala and Gujrat chamber of commerce and industries also announced Rs10 million each for the college.

Later, the governor visited the Gujranwala University of Future Technology (GUFT) and reviewed its curriculum.
