ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Wednesday proposed to appoint a parliamentary committee which could independently investigate arrest of Shahzain Bugti, who was detained for allegedly carrying huge cache of arms and ammunition last week.

Speaking in the National Assembly, the minister said there was a factual situation; documentary evidence and video footage that showed the weapons were being carried by Shahzain Bugti.

“There is no point of putting weapons (into his car which he claimed later).”

Malik said he had ordered an inquiry soon after the arrest of Shahzain as his mother called him and expressed her lack of trust on either police or FC.

Interior Minister said good treatment was being done to Balochistan and the people there were getting jobs following landmark Aghaz-e-Huqooq-e-Balochistan.

But, he said strict security checks were put in place at border areas as well as banning of five organizations that had remarkably reduced killings in Balochistan. Otherwise 4-5 persons were moved down daily in the province, he said and added that the situation in Balochistan would soon be improved.

Referring to the treatment meted out to Shahzain Bugti by the personnel of security forces, he said, “We all know the training of our forces, the tongue of our president still have a cut mark, I cannot describe how many times Benazir Bhutto was maltreated.”

He said    the Pakistan People's Party tolerated humiliation, adding that Prime Minister was detained in jails for five years.

Malik said the law does not allow humiliation adding that action would be taken against the personnel who maltreated Shahzain Bugti.

He said the situation was improving in Balochistan, however, he called for joint efforts to improve the situation completely.
