DHAKA, Sept 28: At least three people were killed and more than 100 injured in two separate blasts in Bangladesh on Saturday.

Police said two people were killed and 39 others injured in an explosion at a circus in Satkhira town, 175kms southwest of Dhaka.

The second blast, which went off soon afterwards at a nearby cinema, killed one and injured more than 90.

The injured were rushed to hospitals in Satkira and in adjoining districts.

Witnesses said some of the people at the cinema house were seriously injured and said the death toll may go up.

Senior police officials who rushed to the spot suspect the devices were time-bombs.

The incident comes with the government and the opposition locked in a war of words over a series of bomb blasts during the reign of the former Awami League administration.
