LAHORE, Sept 28: All provinces are going to explain the implementation of the devolution plan by them in a meeting to be chaired by President Gen Pervez Musharraf in Islamabad on Tuesday.

They will explain the stages of the implementation of the reforms at the seventh meeting of the chief executive’s committee on devolution.

The provinces will be represented by all governors, chief secretaries, and ministers and secretaries of the local government departments. The Punjab is also sending its finance secretary and local government department’s special secretary to the meeting.

The issues to be discussed will include the local governments, their functioning, flaws in the existing law, new local government finance system and inter-district finance. In the Punjab, the officers concerned will meet the Punjab governor on Monday evening after having a meeting with the chief secretary to give a final shape to their representation at the meeting.
