PESHAWAR, Sept 27: An independent candidate from PF-1 (Peshawar I), Shakeel Waheedullah, has claimed that some of the political parties have been portraying themselves as “B” teams of President Musharraf in an attempt to gain public support.

According to a press release issued here on Friday, Waheedullah called on a two-member European Union election monitoring team here on Thursday night and informed it about the certain parties trying to influence the polls. The EU team comprised Nakes Bonzi and Annie Marekie Steman.

He said that some of the leaders had been claiming government’s support, and some individuals were giving the impression of becoming the next PM.

He added that some government functionaries were asking the people to vote for certain parties.

About the lukewarm response by the general public to the the electoral campaign, he said that the political governments in the past had done nothing for the welfare of the people due to which there was growing disenchantment among them.
