LAHORE, Sept 26: All Lahore High Court (LHC) employees will have to wear uniform from October 15.
Neckties and trousers are integral parts of the uniform prescribed for men. However, women will be allowed to wear Shalwar Qameez.
The LHC registrar has prescribed the following uniform for the staff members: Officers in BS-17 and above will wear a lounge suit with a necktie — preferably blue. Gazetted staffers — private Secretaries, readers and personal assistants — will wear black coats with steel grey trousers and navy blue neckties. Non-gazetted officials have been directed to wear silky blue shirts, neckties and black, blue or grey trousers. They will also wear V-shaped blue sweaters or jerseys in winter. Women will wear white Shalwar Qameez with white shawls and a black coat or a jersey. Class IV employees will continue to wear the uniform already prescribed for them.
Punjab Governor Lt-Gen Khalid Maqbul (retired) on Thursday gifted Rs500,000 for arranging uniform for the LHC’s 1,208 non-gazetted employees (BS-1 to 15).
LHC Registrar Abdur Rashid Qureshi received the cheque from Principal Secretary to the Governor Tariq Mahmood at the LHC Library in the presence of the employees. The 329 gazetted employees will bear the cost of uniforms themselves.
